Vakuum – eine ortsspezifische Installation für dock: Artists'Window, Basel/CH.
Das subjektive Empfinden bildet die Basis für das Erfassen eines Raumes. Dabei wird bewusst oder unbewusst eine Selbstreduktion der Wahrnehmung vorgenommen. Mit minimalem Eingriff versuchten wir den architektonischen Raum als solchen in Frage zu stellen und neue Inhalte oder andere Lesearten hervorzurufen.
Für uns liegt das Spannungsfeld auch in der Ausgangslage der Situation, welche den Ort "dock: aktuelle Kunst aus Basel" in zwei Raumsituationen teilt. Diese Schnittstelle wird definiert durch die Ausstellungszone und dem Betrieb "Dokumentationsstelle Basler Kunstschaffender“. In den Schaufenstern regen Ausstellungsprojekte zu einem aktiven, nach aussen gerichteten öffentlichen Diskurs an. Im Gegensatz dazu wird mit dem KünstlerInnen-Archiv und gezielten Veranstaltungen im Innenraum mehr ein inneren Diskurs anstrebt. Durch unseren installativen Eingriff in die bestehende Architektur wird diese Grenze, wie auch die Lesbarkeit des Raumes verschoben und beide Seiten werden dadurch neu herausgefordert.

The subjective perception is the basis for the detection of a space. Although consciously or unconsciously, a self-reduction of perception is made. With minimal intervention we tried the architectural space as such to question and provoke new content or other ways of reading.
For us, the field of tension is also in the starting position of the situation that the place "dock: contemporary art from Basel" divides in two spatial situations. This interface is defined by the exhibition area and the operation of "documentation centre of artists from Basel“. Exhibition projects in the windows encourage an active, outwardly directed public discourse. In contrast to this, with the „archive of artists“ and specific events in the interior is aiming a more inner discourse. Through our installed intervention in the existing architecture is the limit, as well as the readability of the room shifted and both sides are thus challenged anew.
